Description
ARDEX R 3 E is a high-performance, solvent-free, two-component epoxy primer and bonding agent designed for use on a variety of sound substrates. This epoxy resin is suitable for application on concrete, cementitious surfaces, calcium sulphate-based screeds, and smoothing compounds. ARDEX R 3 E creates an effective primer and bonding layer on both dry and dense surfaces, making it ideal for use in both internal and external environments. It serves as a crucial preparatory step before applying ARDEX’s range of cement-based tiling and flooring products. To ensure optimal adhesion, ARDEX R 3 E must be sand-blinded with dry ARDEX Fine Aggregate to create a mechanical key when used as a primer for the ARDEX K 80/ARDEX SD-T B Industrial Floor System or other ARDEX cement-based products and smoothing compounds. In cases of very porous substrates, additional coats of ARDEX R 3 E may be necessary to fully saturate the surface and achieve the desired bonding performance. For substrates with a relative humidity (RH) exceeding 75% or where a structural damp proof membrane is not in place, it is recommended to apply ARDEX DPM 1 C before ARDEX R 3 E.
Key Points:
- Versatile Application: ARDEX R 3 E is suitable for use on concrete, cementitious surfaces, calcium sulphate-based screeds, and smoothing compounds, both internally and externally.
- Effective Primer and Bonding Agent: It forms a strong primer and bonding layer on dry and dense surfaces, enhancing adhesion for subsequent ARDEX cement-based tiling and flooring products.
- Mechanical Key Creation: When used as a primer, ARDEX R 3 E must be sand-blinded with dry ARDEX Fine Aggregate to provide a mechanical key, ensuring a secure bond with ARDEX K 80/ARDEX SD-T B Industrial Floor System and other ARDEX products.
- Humidity and Porosity Considerations: For surfaces with relative humidity above 75% or where a structural damp proof membrane is not present, ARDEX DPM 1 C should be applied prior to ARDEX R 3 E. Additional coats of ARDEX R 3 E may be needed for very porous substrates to achieve full saturation and effective bonding.
Coverage: Approximately 24 square meters per 6kg unit.
Storage and Shelf Life: Store in a dry environment. ARDEX R 3 E Solvent-Free Epoxy Primer has a shelf life of at least 12 months when kept in its original, unopened containers.
